I feel that Singapore ranking second is because some Singaporeans does not know the consequences to cyberbullying. I feel that cyberbullying can harm people's emotions and their academic results. If it happens during examination period, it may result it failing and many others like the person could not concentrate during the examination. I think that Singaporeans should be given a talk on the consequences of cyberbullying and what does it cause. The victims should also consult their teachers or parents.
I cannot imagine Singapore, being the smaller country, have the number of cyber-bullying second in the world.
Parents and teachers should teach or tell children that cyber-bullying is wrong to do and the consequences of doing it on others. The people being cyber-bullied will have lower self-esteem, increased suicidal ideation. They will also cyberbullying back, be scared, frustrated, angry, and depressed.
i hope that the number of cases of people being cyber-bullied will decrease and Singapore would not be 2nd in the world in the future! :D
i think that it is quite embarassing that singapore,a small country with lesser people,is ranking second for cyber-bulling.I think that it is because singaporeans especially teenagers do not know that their harsh words or actions can lead to serious consequences like suicide.Talks about cyber-bullying can be given especially in secondary schools.Parents should also be concern about what their child is doing in the internet.Singaporeans should be aware of the consequences about cyber-bully so that the number of cases of cyber-bullying can be minimise.
It was rather surprising to learn that singapore, such a small country, is No.2 in the world for cyber-bullying! It is probably because people, mostly teenagers, do not know the consequences of their act.
I think that talks in school about cyber-bullying would help. Those who got cyber bullied should also inform/consult their parents, teachers or school counsellers about it. I've also heard of some cases of cyber bullying that led people to committing suicide.
I certainly hope that cyber bullying would stop as innocent lives were lost just like that. Lets hope that singapore will be ranked 2nd in the world for anti cyber bullying and not the other way round! :D
p.s. Keep your head up high, be happy and smile! ♥
In my opinion, cyberbullying can happen to ANYONE. Singapore is quite a developed country, despite its small population. There are so many social networks on the internet nowadays, and even more users. It is very hard to differentiate evil people from harmless ones. Elders, like parents or teachers, should warn them about cyberbullying so their child would be more alert and less likely to fall into the trap of cyberbullies. However, in the not-so-rare case of cyberbullying, the victim should consult parents or teachers, etc.
I think that Singapore ranking secong in cyber-bullying is a extremely negative thing. But, if we look from a differet side, it tells us how advanced Singapore is. Of course, I still feel that it is a thing to feel ashamed of.
In many cases, victims of cyber-bully experiene stress and some even get depression. After that, the victims' grades will drop and if they are working, their prformance in the office will detoriate.
Teachers, parents and employers should always be on the lookout for these signs. Should we notice any of these, we should get that particcolar person to talk to us about their problems. If nessesary, we should tell an adult.
Most cyber-bully victims would bottle up their feeings. If you are one of them, please tell someone NOW!
I feel that singapore having world number 2 in cyberbullying is very shocking news. Singapore is so small, airport is no.1 and so on. But it doesn't mean that all kinds of things we should be no.1, do you get it? :0
I think there is cyberbullying in Singapore is no.2 is maybe because of 'kiasu'. No offence to Singaporeans! The reason is for example some people got cyberbullied, then the victim cyberbullied back, not wanting to lose or to show that you are weak. They threaten each others friends and the people not involved at first become involved! So, the trail of cyberbullying continues on.
Well, in conclusion, when you are cyberbullied, tell your teacher or parents or someone close to you for help.
Actually cyber bullying is a VERY harmful thing. It will not only affect one's personality, academis results, and their pride too. Well, many people in Singapore wants their ''face'' a lot too. For some cases this cyber bullying thing is much to a blow to them.they do not even think of the consequenses! victims can talk to the school's counsel or their parents espcially. I think that it is ranked second due to some singaporeans thinks its actually ''fun''! this is really not encouraged as it may hurt someone's pride probably forever or for a long long time. my advise to people is they shouldnt associate with people like these or they shouldnt show every one their blog instead lock it and ask people to send them their email to add only their friends. like for example, in my blog there is one person named anonymous but at least this person didnt hack my blog. i am very glad about it. :D

Learning that Singapore, a small country which is just a small little dot on the map, is ranked second brought me a great shock. China, a country which is a lot of times bigger than Singapore, and one of the countries with the largest population is not even ranked the top-three!
I think that the reason for being ranked the second in the world is because Singapore has very good technology, resulting in people mis-using them. The results of a victim being cyberbullied would be that the person would not have enough sleep, could not concentrate on his or her work and even commiting suicide.
As the saying goes: All for one, one for all. Teenagers are the not only group of people to blame, in recent reports, there are middle-aged or even above the aged of 60 men framing as someone else and luring young girls to places. These girls would then be sexually assaulted.
There are also cases where someone framed as another person and chats with someone else with the opposite sex. Then when they start to enter the boy-girl relationship way, the person would then suddenly break off his or her contact with the other party. The other person would then feel miserable and to such an extent whereby the person resulted to commiting suicide.
I think that ambassadors should give talks to parents, students about cyber wellness so that they know what to do when a symptom/symptoms of being cyber-bullied is observed. I think teachers should also sent their students for councelling if their students tend not to hand in their homework, handing in the homework late, work is done in an "anyhow" manner etc. I also think that the government should impose a heavier penalty on the culprits and announce the penalties to the public.
I think that by doing so, we would nib the problem in the bud and our cases of cyberbullying would be decrease, hopefully.
We should be alert and aware of the things happening around us.It is very difficult to tell if a person is really good or out there to harm you,so it is best not to reveal any personal information.Talks about cyberbullying have been conducted in schools, but cyberbullying cases have not stopped, neither did it decrease. Those people did it in the name of 'fun',without knowing that they have to face the music and really pay an expensive price.Since these cases still occur,it is best that we stay vigilant and not fall for these tricks. If one have been cyberbullied or put in a tight spot when online, one should seek help from teachers or parents and not bottle up their feelings.
As Singapore is a small country, ranking second for cyber-bullying is very embarrasing.
I feel that cyber-bullying can hurt one's self-esteem and make him feel very uncomfortable. If he or she cannot think right, he many do something foolish and that person who is guilty of making the person will not be able to sleep soundly.
The teachers and parents should teach them how to react or what they should do when they are being hurt in this way. Parents, especially mothers, must be very close to their children in a way that they will first come to them and tell them what happen.
The government should also teach people through public campaigns etc, so that they will be aware of what is the harmful effect of cyber-bullying and what are the consequences of it.
I really hope that the number of cyber-bullying cases will decrease if not, more and more teenagers will be hurt in this manner.
It is indeed, not a good news to know that cyber-bullying is so common in Singapore. With only a population of 4.5 million, it spells that many people are committing the act of cyber-bullying. Cyber-bullying can happen to anyone, and it can really demoralise a person.
For instance, some people may find that they are lousy and thus their work deproves. They may also fail their exams and become stressed. Some even more serious cases have even led to commiting suicide. It can greatly affect one's emotions. If they are working adults, their work will also detoriate and that is ceratinly not a good sign. These people (mainly the youngsters) probably do not know the serious consequences of cyber-bullying. If given a talk on cyber-bullying, perhaps it may help them to understand how they are hurting one's feelings or maybe feel what it would be like to be in that person's shoes- having rumours spread around the internet about them.
If a person is being cyber-bullied, he/she should talk to a counsellor, parents or a close friend. Keeping it to themselves wil simply make things worse. So, I suggest that if you are a victim of cyber-bully, please don't be afraid that you wll lose 'face' and just let someone know. It is not something to be ashamed of.
Hopefully too, Singapore will become second, or even first in anti-cyber-bullying instead of vice versa! :D
I simply cannot believe it! Why do people bully each other? Obviously, they do not know the consequences to cyberbullying. They might think that it is fun, too. Singaporeans should be given a talk on cyberbullying, especially primary schools. If we teach them about the causes of cyberbullying at a young age, most likely, they will not do it in the future. Victims should not just keep quiet either. They should consult an adult they trust, e.g their parents or school teachers. I hope such things will cease inthe future.
Cyberbullying...sounds fun(seriously im joking)...doesnt sound fun if you are a victim...
EMBARRASING to be ranked 2nd !! people nowadays, trying to be funny on the net, bullying also go on9 bully lerh, quite advanced har.
we cannot blame schools if their students try to cyberbully. like benton said, schools conduct talks about cyberbullying, but no use, they think its funny to cyberbully so they did. the students would tarnish their school reputation if they did so.
hmm.. since talks dont even work ...i think they should worsen the punishment of cyberbullying.
...end of my entry...
I am proud to say that Singapore is number one in most of the things, but I could not believe that Singapore is ranking second for cyberbullying.
Singaporeans, especially youngsters,do not know that cyberbullying is a crime and thought that there was so much fun by doing this. These youngsters also do not know that the person being bullied will be affected badly, like failing their exams, have no friends, etc.
I think that parents and teachers should look more into the matter,so that the victims can be more concentrated on their studies, especially the primary sixes as their PSLE examination is round the corner. I hope that the number of cyberbullying cases would decrease and we would not rank second anymore,of course not ranking the first!:)
A small country, Singapore, to be ranked second for cyberbulling really shocked me. Young teenagers in Singapore have very little or in fact no knowledge about cyberbullying at all and this, in my opinion is the main cause of why so many Singaporeans are committed to cyberbullying.
Schools should organise more talks on cyberbullying to make students have the knowledge about cyberbullying. Without any knowledge about cyberbullying, the victims or the bullies might not be aware that they are actually cyberbullied or cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying is something that would greatly hurt someone's feeling and self-esteem very greatly. This would cause them to lose concentration and might be insomnia. Finally, a word of advice for those who are cyberbullied-Never to be afraid to ask for help!
I think most people that cyber-bully thinks that cyber bullying is a fun thing to do and is harmless.Cyber-bullying is actually as harmful as physically bullying as it can harm the victim's emotions. The victim of cyber bully should inform a trusted adult and talk about it.Talks of cyber bullying and its consequences might help also.Victims dare not to tell their parents about them being cyber bullied as they think that their parents will find them useless.
I feel that Singapore being ranked second in the world for cyber-bullying is something embarassing as Singapore is only a small dot on the world map. Even China, a country with the largest population, is not even ranked the top three. I think schools should have talks on cyber-bullying, students will then know the consequences of cyber-bullying. Parents should also warn their children about cyber-bullying so that their child will not be a victim of cyber-bullying. Many victims would bottle up their feelings and try not to tell anyone about the matter. I think that they should consult their parents instead for their opinions.
I feel that the main cause of high cyber-bullying is the usage of computer. It is extremely common that every household in Singapore has at least a computer. With high technologies in Singapore,cyber-bullying is likely to happen easily. However, I think that Singapore being the second for cyber-bullying is ridiculous. One would never expect that a small nation will result in such high rate of cyber-bullying. I think that the education of cyber-bullying has increased throughout the years, but it is not rather successful. It is easy for teenagers to cyberbully due to Singapore's advanced technology.
Singaporeans must be educated in the right way instead of being influenced by the people near them. Exposure to bullying in such a young age in Singapore is also one of the main causes.
People who are cyber-bullied should not feel embarrassed or ashamed and do not dare to voice it out. I suggest them to consult the school counselors or teachers first to find out if their cases are considered cyber-bullying. I think that the government must put more attention to these cases and improve on the consequences of cyber-bullying.
I think that singaporeans should be ashamed of themselves after knowing that they had ranked second for cyber-bullying and just after America. I think that main reason is because Singapore is developing rapidly and most of us have computers in our homes. Some did it out of boredom while some just did it out of fun. Well, i think that these people need to be given talks which will let them know the consequences of cyber-bullying. iI doubt that these people knew that what they had done will cause the people who were harmed by them to be seriously hurt. The victims who were bullied should consult their teachers of parents and not keeping it to him or herself.
It is really embarassing to be ranking second for cyber-bullying. Singapore is such a small country!i think those bullies probably hate a person for reasons such as their academic results are better etc. But, i think instead of cyber-bullying, they should study hard and achieve better results. Parents and Teachers can help too.teachers can give talks in schools. They can also tell pupils of the consequences. Parents can also search online to find out more about cyber-bullying. But, the thing is that people that are cyber-bullied tend to be frightened and does not dare to tell anyone.
If this kind of thing does not minimise, more people will be commiting suicide and more students will not get good results. The cyber-bullies also should not harm people's feelings like that. Anway, cyber-bullying is a crime!
I hope that the number of cases of cyber-bullying will minimise.
I feel embarrassed that Singapore is ranked 2nd for cyber-bullying as Singapore is only a small country and there should be lesser people cyber-bullying in a small country but the truth is totally different and almost unbelievable for me. Bullies should not do that as the victim would be hurt by those comments and build their happiness on others' feelings. Schools should give a talk about cyber-bullying and warned students about it Imagine yourself as a victim being cyber-bullied.Would you like it?
They should also tell someone close to them such as relatives and friends to share your burden and they may offer a solution to you.
I think that Singapore being second in that area is kind of unbelievable! Singapore is just a teensy weensy dot on the globe. It is so hard to believe that fact.
Cyberbullying is a very serious offence. Many young people here do not know that cyberbullying can drive the victim up the wall. Among those victims, some do not know what to do and they would be affected greatly.
In the United States, which ranks first in the number of cyber-bullying cases, children have been pushed to suicide by cyber-bullies. Just like that, one nasty
comment would end a life!
I think that parents and teachers should educate children/pupils about cyberbullying. How to stop/prevent it and all that they must know.
I really hope that the number of cyberbullying would decrease. Singapore can do it, i know that she can! *smile*
I feel very shock and embarrass about Singapore ranking second for cyber-bullying. Although Singapore is a smaller country with a lesser population, but we are still second for cyber-bullying. I think that is very ironic. I think that Singaporeans do not know about the heavy consequences about cyber-bullying. I think that cyber-bullying not only hurts another people's feeling but it also harms people's confidence. When they have no confidence, they will hence affect their relationship with their friends and also their results. I also think that the cyber-bully is very inconsiderate as he/she never put themselves in other people's shoes. If one is being cyber-bullied, I think he/she should consult their parents or teacher too.
I really hope that the number of cyber-bullying will decrease and not be second for cyber-bullying again in the future.
Singapore is such a small country.Having no.1 in most things seems good unbelievable but coming 2nd place in cyber-bullying is unimaginable.I think Singapore should give more talk on why we should not cyber bully people for children in school.Parents must also talk to their children so tht whenever children felt troubled, the first thing they will do is to tell their parents.
I hope that the number of cases on cyber bully will drop, including other countries.
Oh my gosh! Singapore is second in cyberbullying. How embarrassing being a Singaporean! I strongly discourage cyberbullying as it will lower the victim's self esteem. Also, if the victim does not tell his/her parents about being cyber-bullied, the cyber-bullies might be proud of what they had done and continue with their offensive act. I think the government, with help from teachers and parents, should educate us on cyber-bullying so that us Singaporeans could decrease the number of cases on cyber-bullying and eventually come to a stop. This way we would not rank as second in the cyber-bullying chart and instead, be a gracius society without cyber-bullying.
Being the second ranking of cyberbullying is not surprising for Singapore. But making it shocking is that a small country like Singapore, is able to top the second ranking of it.
I think that citizens of Singapore does not know the harmful side of it thus allowing the act go on further while the consequences worsen. Cyberbullying is very harmful in the sense that it hurt people's feelings. They might not represent it physically though, they are hurt internally. Cyberbullying might cause people to having depression.
My suggestions is to let the victim sound out to their parents or teachers instead of bttling up his or her emotions. I should say to warn the people who are cyberbullying to stop as cyberbullying is a crime!
I feel that Singaporeans should be very embarrassed of ranking second in the world. Singapore is such a small country, compared to America and we have the second highest number of cyber-bullying.
As the laws do not encourage young people to report their online problems, unless it is clearly criminal, for instance, hacking, people cannot really find who is cyber-bullying them.
Cyber-bullying can result in depressions, sucides, failing their exams and low self-esteem. The victims should tell a adult what is happening to him/her.
Those bullies may have thought that it is fun, but it is not true. Parents should teach their children about what is the consequences of cyber-bullying and give some examples.
Being ranked 2nd for cyber-bullying is very embarassing for a small country and with a small population. I think that bullies feel that cyber-bullying is much more better and safer compared to the other forms of bullying. They think that they will only be tracked down by checking the IP address which is a hassle to do so. Some clever ones would go to the school or some places which has computers and internet access to do it. They would not be tracked down unless somebody is watching them or spying on them.
Victims should remain calm and talk to those who are close to them about it. Being a bully is not something to be proud of as they will get retribution. Talks organised may not help the bully to stop. The law should take action and track them down. They should also announce the consequences which must be heavy or some rich kid would think that they can get away with it by paying the fines that are being imposed on them which probably cost nothing to them. They should be jailed or something that will cause a black mark on their record.
I was shocked when i found out that Singapore was ranked second in Cyber-bullying!Being one of the smallest country in the world, Singapore can be ranked second for cyber-bullting!
Well, lets get to the point. You see, i think that Singaporeans are ranked second as they do not know the conswquences of cyber-bullying.
Cyberbullying can lead to harming people's feeling to each other, making them feel like not going to school and have no appetite to eat.It happens when more than 3 to 4 people are using nams to call him/her like'noob','gay' or even by harrassing her/him!He will feel either being left out or lonely. But, the worst is, the victims do not consult their parents or teachers as they are scared that him/her would be left out even more!
I think that schools should give a talk about cyber-bullying as this might go on and on and it might ruin our reputation! All the while trying to keep our country clean and green, beacause of this, our efforts will be washed down the drain! So, after listening so much, will you guys play a part by helping the society by stopping those in our class? I hope So!
Its a huge embarrasment for Singapore to be ranked 2nd in cyberbullying. Singaporeans are simply heartless and not caring for other people's feeling. This will cause people to be depressed and wants to be alone in his/her own world.
Cases of cyberbullying I have read has led to suicide or taking revenge if they know who the bully is. I hope that this case of bullying should stop and the police should take some actions against it. Parents should also monitor their children's actions. Victims should also consult counsellers, teachers, friends or parents.
I cannot believe that Singapre stands at the second rank in the whole world for something we all are ashamed of -- cyberbullying.
In fact, everyone who has gone to school would know the consequences to cyberbullying. It is almost equivalent to physical bullying, except that it reaches the victim indirectly. Still, it hurts the victim's emotions. It also affects the daily life and academic results of the victim. I will conclude that everything of cyberbullying is bad.
I would say cyberbullying is a cause to depressions of certain people, especially teenagers. Cyberbullying kills. Those who are unfortunate to be the victims might not want to live anymore. This will lead to suicide.
I will suggest for teachers and parents to try their best to talk to preteens of the dangers of cyberbullying. This might help to prepare the child for defending himself if cyberbullying occurs right before him. If the child expresses depression or frustration, parents ought to find out what is happening on the net. We should also always inform trusted adults of any trace of cyberbullying.
Let us hope that our country, Singapore, would not stay at the rank of number 2 in cyberbullying. Let all Singaporeans know about cyberbullying and stop it, minimise the number of cases in this tiny island.
Together, we can stop cyberbullying. What are we waiting for? Let us start right NOW!
Singapore is one of the smaller country, but it is ranked second in cyber-bullying is a piece of shocking news to me. Cyber-bullying seems worse than physical bullying as parents would not be able to see the “wound” created, and hence unable to help the child. Cyber-bullying would also affect one’s studies grade or working attitude. I think that the victims of cyber-bullying should tell a person he or she trusts to avoid going into depression or even committing suicide.
When we use any of the applications on Internet, we should be careful to avoid making friends with others we do not know and also be sure not to leak out any personal information. Parents can keep a careful lookout on the sites their child is visiting, and whom their child is talking to. Teachers and schools can also educate the students on Cyber-bullying and the right netiquette. Maybe to lessen the Cyber-bullying cases in Singapore, the law could declare a heavier fine if one is caught for Cyber-bullying.
As technology advances in our society, cyber bullying is inevitably the high- tech crime that comes hand in hand with advances. Just as teenagers enjoy creating Blog and Face book, there would be people who are interested in reading and destroying them. Singapore ranking second in this is rather appalling as I thought Singapore has one of the best education systems. Perhaps it is high time that educator should look into teaching the moral values, ethic, responsibilities and consequences in the computer world before they even begin introducing IT. They should also nip the problem in the bud when they see a potential offender.
On the other hand, I also feel that punishment can be a form of deterrence as well. Hence, the authority and school should come out with laws to punish the offender guilty of cyber bullying.
I did not know that Singapore, only a little dot on the map, could rank second in the world for cyber bullying. It gives us a bad reputation. I think that this happens beacause teenagers only care about fun, but not about the feelings of other people. Some of the things they do also affects people's self-esteem and these victims will be depressed and will believe the bad things that the bullies tell them. I think that the schools should give a talk on cyberbullying and what it does to the victims. If after these talks and the bully still strikes, then the victim should tell somebody like their teacher or school counsellor.
I feel so ashamed as although singapore is such a small country, it is ranked 2nd in cyberbullying...In serious cases, people may go into mental breakdown or harm theis emotions! In this cases, the victims should consolt their parents or teachers for help. So c'mon people ! Lets make singapore an anti-cyberbullying place!
i think that Singapore is such a small country but it is ranked 2nd for cyberbulling in the whole world!I thought that it will be china who is 2nd.Maybe china people do not even know how to use a computer.jkjk.I feel that the goverment should impose a heavier fine on those who cyberbully.Cyberbullying can cause the other party who is being insulted to be miserable for life.It mant also affect one's studies, friendship or feelings.i really hope that there will be lesser cases of cyberbullying and i hope that i will not be a vicim or a cyberbully.:)
I feel that Singapore is the second in cyberbullying is because the people do not think before they act even though they were told umpteenth times to do so. I think that the punishments should be more severe as people would be able to remember not to as the long stretch of prison can make a person think before acting. People should live together harmoniously in order that people use proper netiquette online or blogs. Also if a person is a better than the rest and are jealous of him, he should assure them that they could do as well as him, maybe better than him! I say that because I believe that everyone, whether handicapped or not, has the unlimited potential in them.
It is very shocking that Singapore is ranked no. 2 for cyber bullying. I hope that the number of cases will not continue to increase but instead, decrease. I feel sad for those being bullied, they are innocent. Victims should report to a teacher, their parents or someone they can trust as they can help the victim. It is embarrassing to admit that they are being cyber bullied but they will be more hurt if they cyber bullies continue. I hope that less people will commit suicide after being cyber bullied, it is not would it to lose our lives and make the culprit happy, instead, we should live life to the fullest and let the culprit face the consequences!
